Wow this is so helpful. I have been so discouraged bc I have purchased so many books and they all include things that don’t sit well with me.

The Mystery of the Blue Train is far from being among the worse Agatha Christie books. However, I agree Endless Night is terrible. I read it with high expectations and it was a great deception. I liked The Murder at the Vicarage. It was the second Christie book i ever read. Paddington was my first and the one who made me starting read more Christie books. I loved reading The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, Peril at End House an And Then There was None. These three are my three favorites. I did not liked the Moving Finger, though it has some interesting stuff about the psychological aspects of people who writtes anonymous letters. I still did not read none of Tommy&Tuppence's novels

Have you read Dawn of Wonder by Jonathan Renshaw??? It’s an amazing fantasy fiction ya book, the author is Christian and it’s so well done. Also I just found out a couple months ago that C. S. Lewis wrote a sci-fi trilogy!

Oof, the broccoli one is hard! I probably would have picked a book with a green cover or a cover with some kind of plant on it. I'm curious to hear what you think of A Midnight Dance. According to goodreads, it comes before The Lost Melody, so I was wanting to pick it up first, but I've heard no one talk about it to know if it's any good or not.

Hahaha! Loved the broccoli! I think you did a great job. Also, as the one who suggested the flamingo that you kinda also balked at, if you ever get that one, fear not! I figured there are lots of ways to go with it - pink theme, bird theme, tropical theme, beach theme, shrimp theme (you never know!), middle age (since some people get pranked with flamingos on their lawn when they turn 40), long legs, etc. Flexible interpretations are part of the fun of it! 😃

I've heard a book described as a "broccoli book" when it's something good for you but not fun. (Alrhough i like vegetables and don't like the anti‐vegetable pop culture narrative) Broccoli is an important plot point in The Romance Recipe by Ruby Barrett My next ballet book is A Lily in the Light by Kristen Fields A Christian fantasy suggestion is the "A classic retold" series, I'm currently reading Break the Beast by Alison Tebo which is a Beowulf retelling, I've also read Unearth rhe Tides by Alyssa Zavalianos Which is a 20000 Leagues Under the Sea retelling (my fav so far but I own 5 more)

I’m interested to see what you think of half a king! I have yet to read that one but I have read the first law trilogy and I think he is a really good writer!

Chantel, I was rewatching this video to put together more of a plan and I thought I’d share a really cool resource you might be interested in. Hillsdale College offers a few free online courses that you might find beneficial. There are a few on C.S. Lewis, Dickens-A Christmas Carol, and several for literature in general, history, etc. I’m talking some now. I wish I would’ve known of this while my kids were still homeschooling. But my oldest is taking a few of the biblical courses now. Check it out when you get a chance. 😊
